SBI Clerk Selection Process

The selection process for the SBI Clerk (Junior Associate) position consists of two stages Preliminary Examination and Main Examination. Here is a breakdown of the SBI Clerk selection process.

  1. Preliminary Examination:
    • The Preliminary Examination is an online objective test that assesses the candidate’s proficiency in English Language, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning Ability.
    • The exam consists of 100 questions with a total duration of 1 hour.
    • Each section has a specific time limit, and candidates must qualify in each section by securing the minimum qualifying marks set by the bank.
    • The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination are not considered for the final selection. It serves as a screening test to shortlist candidates for the Main Examination.
  2. Main Examination:
    • The Main Examination is also an online objective test with additional sections such as General/Financial Awareness and Computer Aptitude.
    • The exam consists of 190 questions with a total duration of 2 hours 40 minutes.
    • Similar to the Preliminary Examination, candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks in each section as well as the overall exam.
    • The marks obtained in the Main Examination are considered for the final selection.
  3. Language Proficiency Test (LPT):
    • Candidates provisionally selected from the main examination are required to undergo a Language Proficiency Test (LPT).
    • The LPT is conducted to ensure that candidates have the necessary language skills to perform their duties in the respective state/region.
    • The test typically involves reading and writing in the local/regional language of the state/region.
  4. Final Selection:
    • The final selection is based on the marks obtained in the Main Examination, subject to qualifying the LPT.
    • The bank releases a merit list based on the candidate’s performance, and candidates are allotted positions based on their merit, preference, and vacancy availability.
    • Candidates who are provisionally selected will be offered an appointment letter by the bank.
